North London Credit Union
We offer two main types of loan:
You may need a personal loan for many reasons, a holiday, a car, to help you move… If you find yourself overstretched, owing money to different lenders, a debt-consolidation loan may be for you.
We also lend money for small and medium-sized businesses. The maximum we can lend for business purposes is £15,000 per individual (it is always a personal loan for business purposes, rather than a loan to the company itself).
All loans have the following in common:
If you are juggling a number of different debts, a consolidation loan might be for you.
Unlike the ‘free’ services you see on TV, if we're able to we will pay 100% of your debts off directly with your creditors, leaving you with just one, manageable and affordable, amount to pay each month. Where as private debt management companies take their fee out of the money you give them to be paid, meaning you’re paying your debt off for longer, as well as this, if it weren't bad enough, any agreement with your creditors even if through a third party will reflect poorly on your credit report.
We take no fees and the only charge for this service is the interest on the loan (which will be clearly explained to you before the loan is agreed). You will know how much you will pay each month and for how long you will be paying.
Interest is charged on the reducing balance (it is only charged on the outstanding debt), so if you find yourself able to pay your loan early, you can do so, with no penalty.
Regretfully, we are not able to offer debt consolidation loans to members until they have been saving with us for three months or more.
If you would like to find out more information, with no obligation, please call us on 020 8366 8244.
If we can’t help you, you still don’t need to pay for debt management. There are a number of not-for-profit and charitable organisations that specialise in helping you manage your money, see here for more information and links.
In order to apply for a loan through North London Credit Union you first become a member with us, if you aren’t already and haven’t already checked to see if you’re eligible please first check the Join Us page of this site.
You’ll need to complete an application form and an agreement form ensuring that both forms are completed and signed and return them to our office.
We require proof of income for all applications, subject to the application process we may at a later stage request further evidence before we are able to sanction a loan to you.
All loans are made to you as an individual and you as the applicant are fully responsible for ensuring repayments are made.
We regret that under no circumstances can we lend if you are currently in a Debt Management Arrangement.
